What's New in 1.0fc1 (Public Final Candidate Release):
- Windows: The first time you play, the Preferences window now appears in front (the Welcome/new game window is now hidden on both platforms).
- Moving the line under certain circumstances in network gameplay no longer causes your opponent's line to be erased; the shaded line has been turned off for mouse movement when it's your opponent's turn on network games.
- The opponent of the winner of a network game now gets a high score dialog rather than a very rude disconnection dialog.
- The winner of a network game is put on the loser's high score board if his/her score is high enough.
- When two or more of the same score appear in high scores, they are listed in chronological order, with the oldest on top (thanks, Daniel).
- Clicking the "no" button in the game over dialog after a network game no longer creates a new game with a ficticious (i.e. non-connected) second player. Instead, the new game dialog pops up.
- Implemented the Music->Start Over item.
- Added a "La La La" sound from PeeWee's Playhouse, but still couldn't find him singing "Connect the Dots..." to go along with that. Oh, well...
- Add a first-person chat option (like me on IRC or the like on Hotline) by using option/alt-return to send.
- Chat window now closes when new game window appears.
- Removed the debug window in all release versions.
- Enabled menu items appropriately in other, non-modal windows.
What's New in 1.0b9 (Public Beta):
- Network gaming! Join and host are fully implemented. Find and opponent and enjoy :)
- Chat for network games! See File->Chat with opponent.
- Bugfix: On windows, the "About..." menu item now appears under a correct menu (that would be the Windows-standard "Help"), as opposed to the last menu over to the right (previously Debug) since Windows has no Apple (Mac OS 9) or Application (Mac OS X) menu.
- Improved "click checking" required for network games actually fixes the problem of clicking rapidly and seeing lots of ghosted line residue. Anyway, who can click that fast and still keep a strategy in mind? You can still do an excellent job of keeping up with the AI without this problem appearing.
- Bugfix: Multiple copies of the High Scores window no longer appear. If it's already open and you select to open it again from the File menu, nothing will happen.
What's New in 1.0b8 (Public Beta):
- Framework for network gameplay.
- A redesigned welcome dialog to reflect the network framework, as well as a cleaner look.
- Bugfix: Clicking outside the boundary of the dots at the top or on either of the sides caused the line not to register.
- Bugfix: Shifting of scores in High Scores window caused the first score shifted to be copied multiple times.
What's New in 1.0b7 (Internal Beta):
- High Scores!
- Changes in the winner dialog box to go along with the High Scores window, including insultary remarks if you lose to the computer...
- A Preferences window! Customizable sounds, player names, and everything other default setting you could imagine!
- Writing and reading preferences and high scores to/from a file.
- Many more sounds to go along with preferences customization.
- A redesigned about box.
- Bugfix: The Win Game dialog box is no longer resizeable. Its close method is also fully implemented (thanks Daniel).
Features that will most likely appear this Summer (also no guarantees - we're busy people...):
- An even more intelligent AI (and perhaps a corresponding difficulty setting in preferences)
Features we're still considering that might appear someday...:
- Bonus points for sequential boxes (maybe an option in preferences)
